Φάνης· Φάνης Φάνητος· τὸν δὴ καλέουσι Φάνητα, ὅτι πρῶτος ἐν αἰθέρι φαντὸς εγένετο· Ὀρφεύς οὕτως Ὦρος (ed. must be ὅρος).

“(Lexicon entry) Phánîs (Φάνης, Φάνητος): They name him Phánîs, that he was the first visible in the Aithír (Αἰθήρ), Orphéfs (Ὀρφεύς) defined him in this way.” (trans. by the author)

Ὀρφέως Ἀργοναυτικά 15 (test. nr. 224):

Νυκτὸς ἀειγνήτης πατέρα κλυτόν, ὅν ῥα Φάνητα

ὁπλότεροι καλέουσι βροτοί· πρῶτος γὰρ ἐφάνθη.

“Glorious father of eternal Nyx, namely Phánis
