ORPHIC CRITICAL TESTIMONY 124

Ποῦ ἕκαστος τῶν Ἑλλήνων τέθαπται καὶ τί ἐπιγέγραπται ἐπὶ τῷ τάφῳ (Peplus or Pepli Epitaphia) ψευδούς-Ἀριστοτέλους 48:

ἐπὶ Ὀρφέως κειμένου ἐν Κικονίαι·

‘Θρήϊκα χρυσολύραν Οἰάγρου παῖδα θανόντα Ὀρφέα ἐν χώρωι τῶιδε θέσαν Κίκονες.’

“About Orphéfs (Ὀρφεύς) who lies in Kikonía (Κικονία):

‘In this place, the Kíkonæs (Κίκονες) buried dead Orphéfs of the golden lyre, the Thracian son of Íagros (Οἴαγρος).’ ”
