Liber Monstrorum III 3 (Moriz Haupt Liber Monstrorum de Diversis Generibus II 246, 19):

Hydra anguis armatus fuisse describitur, quae Eurydicen coniugem Orphei in ripa fluminis capite truncavit et demersit in gurgitem.

“The Hydra is represented to have been an armed serpent, who, by the bank of a stream, maimed Eurydice the wife of Orpheus, in the head, and drown her in the water.”
