257. (14. 189) ἐξήγησις ἐπὶ Ἰλιὰς Ὁμήρου τοῦ Ἰωάννου Τζέτζου 26, 1 Herm.:
καὶ μαθητὴν δὲ αὐτόν (sc. τὸν Ὅμηρον) φημι μᾶλλον Ὀρφέως εἶναι ἢ Προναπίδου· εὑρίσκω γὰρ αὐτὸν ἃ μέν τινα τῶν Ὀρφέως ἐπῶν καθ’ ὁλοκληρίαν πρὸς τὴν αὐτοῦ μετοχετεύσαντα ποίησιν, ἕτερα δὲ πάλιν καθ’ ἡμίσειαν παρασπάσαντα, ἕστι δ’ ἃ καὶ μεταφράσαντα ἢ καὶ ἀλληνάλλως μεταστρέψαντα ποίησιν ὡς τὸ (sequitur fr. 268) καὶ τό·
ἕκτον ἔτος· τὸ μὲν οὔτις ἐπέφρασεν οὐδ’ ἐνόησεν
“And I say that he (Ὅμηρος) was more a student of Orphéfs (Ὀρφεύς) than of Pronapídîs (Προναπίδης); for I find that he diverted some of the poetry of Orphéfs completely to his poetry, but elsewhere, on the contrary, he appropriated half, and there is some which he paraphrased or even arbitrarily altered the poetry, as (can be found) here and there (sequitur Orphic Fragment 268):
‘Sixth year: no one noticed nor apprehended it at all.’ ”
