SUMMARY: This fragment is another excerpt from the Dodekaeteris.
Excerpt from the Δωδεκαετηρίς V (compare to Orphic Fragment 251) ἐξήγησις τοῦ Ἰωάννου Τζέτζου εἰς τὰ Ἔργα καὶ τὰς Ἡμέρας τοῦ Ἡσιόδου 568 (= Abel fr. 12):
(Orphic frag.
“When Jupiter himself is in Pisces, it is good to celebrate a wedding.
“And during the year [the very one which Pisces governs] all things increase exceedingly well.”
(trans. by the author)
Translator’s note: I have no idea why Kern separated these fragments, since they seem to be two parts of one, as can be found in Josef Heeg’s inaugural dissertation Die Angeblichen Orphischen ΕΡΓΑ ΚΑΙ ΗΜΕΡΑΙ on p. 29 fragment 13 (which is cited by Kern).
