ORPHIC CRITICAL TESTIMONY 140

In Lesbos: See ὰ ἐς τὸν Τυανέα Ἀπολλώνιον Φιλόστρατου IV 14 nr. 134 Ὀρφέως ἄδυτον “the sanctuary of Orpheus;” v. see also nr. 118. The idea of a sacred law of Eresia in Ziehenius n. 117 belonging to the temple of Orpheus, advanced by Samson Eitrem in Beitrage zur griechischen Religionsgeschichte III 1920, 41 seems without basis nor is it stronger than the idea of an Ὄρφειος month which I introduced in in tit. Magnet. n. 52, 38; in fact, Friedrich Bechtel in Aeolica Halle 1909, 62 believes that one must read the word as [Τ]ερφείωι.

In Libethra of Pieria: Διηγήσεις Κόνωνος f. 45, v. see nr. 115.
