The Astronomy (Ἀστρονομία), a book of Orpheus, is testified only in the Souda (Σοῦδα) (see Orphic Critical Testimony no. 223 d). It is doubtful whether it existed; for it seems that Eugenius Abel Orphica fragments 1 (p. 141; see Orphic fr. 22) and fragment 2 (begins p. 141; see Orphic fr. 285) do not concern this text. On the contrary, it is more likely that the poem is to be found in Servius in Georgica Virgilii II 389 (fr. 244 before in ΒΑΚΧΙΚΑ where you should add Schol. German. p. 67, 5 and 169, 12 Breysig); v. Josef Heeg Die Angeblichen Orphischen Ἔργα καὶ Ἡμέραι - Inaugural Dissertation 48. Tannery Rev. philol. XXI 1897, 190; XXIV 1900, 54. Josef Heeg, in Die Angeblichen Orphischen 11. 70.

John Malalas (Ἰωάννης Μαλάλας) attested that Theon (Θέων ὁ Ἀλεξανδρεύς), a contemporary of the Emperor Gratian, wrote a commentary on For Those Skilled in Astronomy Ἀστρονομικοῖς of Hermes Trismegistus (Ἑρμῆς ὁ Τρισμέγιστος) and Orpheus (see Orphic Critical Testimony no. 236).
