ORPHIC CRITICAL TESTIMONY 26.

Μεννίππη, the daughter of Thámyris (Θάμυρις) Χιλιάδες τοῦ Ἰωάννου Τζέτζου I 12, 305:

“Orphéfs (Ὀρφεὺς) was Thracian, from Visaltía (Βισαλτία), the fatherland of the Odrysians (Ὀδρύσαι); he was the son of Mænníppî (Μεννίππη), the daughter of Thámyris (Θάμυρις), and Íagros (Οἴαγρος), although they say allegorically (that he was) the son of Kalliópî (Καλλιόπη).”
