σχόλιον Ἑρμείου επὶ Φαίδρου Πλάτωνος 244 A 94, 22 P. Couvreur:
τρεῖς δὲ λέγονται Ὀρφεῖς παρὰ Θραιξὶ γενέσθαι.
“They say that amidst the Thraicians there came three Orphéfses (Ὀρφεῖς).”
Moreover there is one from Lívîthra (Λίβηθρα), one from the Kikonians (Κίκονες), and one from the Odrysian kingdom (Βασίλειον Ὀδρυσῶν, or perhaps meaning generally, Thrace), which Îsýhios (Ἡσύχιος) counts (v. Suidas nr. 223) along with those from Kamárina (Καμάρινα) (nr. 176) and Krótôn (Κρότων) (nr. 177). Maaß De biogr. Graec. 126, Wilamowitz in the same place 154 n. 3. F. G. Schoemann Opusc. acad. II 10 who thinks there are three Orphéfses following Ἀπορίαι καὶ λύσεις περὶ τῶν πρώτων ἀρχῶν εἰς τὸν Πλάτωνος Παρμενίδην Δαμασκίου I 316 C. A. Ruelle calling to mind the three theogonies to be found there, evidently so as to ascribe to each his own theogony.
