(ἤ οὐκ ἴσμεν ὡς τὰ μὲν Βενδίδια τὴν Ἄρτεμιν θεραπεύειν κατὰ τὸν Θρᾳκῶν νόμον ἐθέλει, καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦτο Θρᾴκιον ἡ Βένδις;)

οὕτω καὶ τοῦ Θραικὸς (Θρᾳκός) θεολόγου μετὰ τῶν πολλῶν τῆς Σελήνης ὀνομάτων καὶ τὴν Βενδῖν εἰς τὴν θεὸν ἀναπέμψαντος·

Πλουτώνη τε καὶ Εὐφροσύνη Βενδῖς τε κραταιά.

(“Do we not know that the Vændídia [Βενδίδια, a festival] is maintained to the worship of Ártæmis [Ἄρτεμις], following the customs of the Thracians, and that the name Vendís (Βενδῖς) itself is Thracian?”)

“And in this manner, from the Thracian theologian (Ὀρφεύς), along with the many names of the Moon (Σελήνη), he allocates the name Vendís (Βενδῖς) to this Goddess (Ἄρτεμις):

‘Ploutônî (Πλουτώνη), Efphrosýne (Εὐφροσύνη), and Vendís the strong.’ ”
