SUMMARY: This testimony seems to be saying that the idea of Orpheus being Thracian is just a fiction.
ORPHIC CRITICAL TESTIMONY 36.
“For which reason I blame and make accusation to the Thracian myth, because by stripping Orphéfs (Ὀρφεύς) from this city (Θεσσαλονίκη), it gives the son of Kalliópi (Καλλιόπη) to the Thracian mountains. Let me tell you this also, for want of anyone to listen to him, he practices on the assembly of animals.”
